In trading, these are different order instructions:
| Order | Full form | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| GTT | Good Till Triggered | You set a trigger price. The order stays active until that trigger is reached, then it places the actual order. |
| IOC | Immediate or Cancel | Whatever quantity can execute immediately gets filled; the remaining quantity is cancelled. |
| FOK | Fill or Kill | The entire quantity must execute immediately, otherwise the whole order is cancelled. |
Simple example
Suppose you want to buy 1,000 shares at ₹100:
GTT: "When price reaches ₹100, place my buy order."
IOC: "Buy whatever quantity is available at ₹100 right now; cancel the rest."
FOK: "Buy all 1,000 shares at ₹100 right now, or cancel the entire order."
Main difference:
IOC = partial fill allowed
FOK = partial fill NOT allowed
GTT = trigger-based order that can remain pending
