This guide explains how to calculate your net taxable profit or loss for any financial year from your Cosmic account.

Steps to Extract Data

  1. Go to Transaction Logs

    • Open Trxn. Logs (Transaction Logs) on your Cosmic account.

    • From the horizontal menu, select “Asset History” if not already active.

  2. Select Transaction Types
In the Transaction Type dropdown, check the following:

    • Cashflow

    • Liquidation Fees

    • Trading Fees

    • Deposit Fees

    • Withdrawal Fees

    • Others → Only select the Funding field (see Point 9 below)

  3. Choose the Time Period

    • In the Time Period dropdown, select “Last FY” for the financial year you want to compute.

    • Click “Mail” to get the data.

  4. Filter the Data

    • In the exported spreadsheet, filter the Transaction Type column to keep only:
Cashflow, Commission, Liquidation Fees, Trading Fees, Deposit Fees, Withdrawal Fees, Funding

    • Remove any other transaction types.

  5. Calculate Net Realized Profit/Loss

    • Sum the following columns:

      • Amount → gives net realized P/L

      • GST

    • Convert to INR using the formula:

Total Net Realized P/L in INR = 85 * (Sum of Amount + Sum of GST)

Cosmic displays transactions in USD using a fixed conversion rate of 85, so multiply by 85 to get INR.

Important Notes

  • Why only these 6 transaction types?
Only these transactions affect your profit/loss.

  • Understanding Cashflow Transactions:

    • Futures: Cashflow occurs when you close a position, so it equals realized P/L.

    • Options: Cashflow happens when you open or close a position. Realized P/L is the net cashflow for that trade.

    • If you have open options positions at the financial year-end, remove cashflows from opening trades to compute accurate realized P/L.
